Welcome to Words from the Heart!
In this blog column, I'll be sharing some of my own stories and essays, along with the tips and tricks I've learned through my writing journey.
To begin, I'd like to introduce you to my book, Who Am I? I wrote it a few months ago for a school project, at a time when I was asking myself what truly makes a person who they are. Is it their story? Their family? Their interests? I believe this book answers that question, and with that, here is the blurb for Who Am I?
Fourteen-year-old Addie's world shattered six months ago when her mother, Abigail, died in a fiery tragedy in Mexico. But as Addie and her family grapple with their grief, unsettling clues emerge: a hidden passport, a cryptic message, and the chilling familiarity of a figure from Addie's earliest dreams.
Driven by a desperate need for answers, Addie and her family embark on a perilous journey into Abigail's secret past. Their investigation exposes a decade-long web of lies and hidden identities. As Addie pieces together fragments of her childhood, a terrifying possibility takes hold: the menacing man from her nightmares, who once claimed a right to her, might be the key to Abigail's death.
From the vibrant resorts of the Riviera Maya to the bustling streets of Mexico City and the dusty roads of Oklahoma, Addie's search for the truth forces her to confront a dangerous reality: the people she thought she knew best were living lives shrouded in secrets, and the past is now catching up to them all. Who was Abigail Bordan? And who, ultimately, is Addie? The line between family and foe blurs as the flames of long-held secrets threaten to consume everything. Can Addie untangle the truth before she becomes the next victim?
Over the next few months, I'll be posting chapters one through twelve, and I hope you enjoy the journey.
