Welcome to my new (and updated) section, Ink and Unsent Letters (previously The Lantern Chronicles)!

Why did I choose this title? Well, I decided instead of sharing just a book I've already written, I want to share the process of getting to that point. That's why I used "Ink". I thought "Unsent Letters" would be cool because the world hasn't read any of my writing (besides my blog, Shine Bright) yet.

I'm not sure I'll be sharing the rest of The Lantern Chronicles, but I will be sharing other snippets, prologues, and synopsis', and along with that, I'll be talking about writing techniques, tips, and my writing journey. Enjoy!

What I'm working on right now

Besides working on essays for school, blog posts, and just writing for fun, I've been focusing mainly on a short story (don't have a title for it yet) about the beauty of adoption/foster care which I'm going to submit for publication hopefully beginning of December. The Skillful Pen Press is a Christian publication house that publishes mainly anthologies which include short stories, encouragement (devo's), and poems. They've published 8 books so far and I'm hoping my story gets published in the series The Chosen Collection: Book#3. I also submitted a poem, even though I don't write a lot of poetry. I really hope my story is accepted! I've put hours into it and it's only 5,000 words!

How and when I started writing

I've been writing for as long as I can remember, but I never thought of it as anything more than a hobby until about two years ago. Also, for around 6 months, I didn't write anything at all. I was discouraged with the 30,000 word "book" I'd written. Only this year I decided to re-write the whole thing because I absolutely LOVE my characters and the plot is actually pretty good.

My WIP

Here's a blurb for the new plot of this book (email me at everythinginbetween55@gmail.com if you have any title ideas):

Six American teens land in Tokyo for Thanksgiving, ready for karaoke and sightseeing. Then Kimberly finds the lacquered box and the journal signed Aurora B. Still.

Every page is a clue. Every clue leads deeper into a fortune in stolen art no one has seen since the WWII. The girls think they’re on a treasure hunt.

In reality, they're walking the exact path Aurora laid the night she betrayed the most dangerous man she ever loved.

Jack Sharp has millions. He has patience measured in decades. And he has never stopped hunting the woman who built his empire… only to burn it down the moment she learned she was carrying his child.

One journal. One betrayal that still bleeds. One unfinished war.

Hope you enjoyed this first Ink and Unwritten Letters. If you want to read more, subscribe to our email list so you'll never miss a beat. Thanks for reading!
