When I start a new journal, I start in whatever month I left off with the previous journal. For example, in the journal I will show you today, the set up is made to start in May, since my previous journal will be filled in April. I hope you enjoy this post, and that it gives you some inspiration and ideas for your next project!

Watercolor-style illustration of three pink flowers with green leaves on stems. The background is transparent, highlighting the floral design.

Supplies:

You don't need letter stickers or stickers, but these are the supplies I used.

  • Letter Stickers

  • Scrapbook Paper

  • Stickers

  • Black Pen

  • Black Permanent Marker

Scrapbooking supplies with patterned paper, floral stickers, alphabet cutouts, and two pens on a soft fabric background. Pink and earthy tones.

For this Journal, I started by counting approximately 30 pages and labeling each group of 30 with a different month, using a pink sticky note. (The 30ish pages kind of ended wherever the pages opened nice and flat) Then, on the first page of each group, I glued a different color page of scrapbook paper and wrote the name of the month. Following are images of each one. I made it from May to October. Again, I don't do one journal per year or start in January.

Open notebook on a soft surface, left page lined and blank, right page has pink pattern with "May 2026" text, pink tab marked "May".

Open notebook on a soft surface. Left page is lined, right page is pink with white leaf patterns, text "June 2026." Pink tab labeled "June."

Open notebook on a soft surface, left page lined, right page pink with floral pattern, text reads "July 2026", pink tab marked "July".

Open journal with "August 2026" on a floral-patterned pink page. Lined page on the left, pink tab labeled "August" visible. Serene mood.

Open notebook on a soft surface, showing "September 2026" on a patterned page with a pink tab labeled "September." Lined pages on the left.

Open notebook on a gray surface, features a floral design and text "October 2026" on the right. Pink tab with "October." Lines on the left.

Once the cover of each group is glued on, make sure you smooth it out good so that when the glue dries it will be nice and flat. What I did next is decorate the cover of my Journal. I used some gray-green plaid letter stickers to write Journal 4 on the cover. I glued most of them on for extra endurance.

Dark brown journal with "JOURNAL 4" text on cover, leather texture, elastic band, and brown ribbon bookmark, set on a light surface.

Then I did the inside cover:

Open journal on a soft surface, labeled "Journal 4" with floral decoration on the right page. Brown bookmark visible. Simple and calm mood.

And that is how I set up my fourth journal! I hope this post gave you some inspiration.
