Hi! Welcome to the Frontier Gallery!!!

When my good friend, Jacqueline, asked me if I wanted to join her and her pen pal in creating a blog about literally everything, my first thought was, 'That would be so fun! of course, I do!'. On my own I would have never done something like this and I am so grateful and excited for this opportunity! So here we are and after some struggles (lol), I'm here to share my love of art (&horses, books, baking/cooking, in my other 3 sections), with YOU!!!

My goal here is to share my art projects along with tips and tricks to help you get better, if art is something that you love too! I'll also try to dive deeper into all art mediums as much as I can. Meanwhile, I'd also love to take requests on what meduims, technics and all that, you'd like to hear about! I can't do many requests at once so if you don't see yours, just wait and I'll try get there soon. that all being said, lets jump into my first post!

I painted this painting about 5 years ago with acrylics that I got as a Christmas present. They were from the Dollar-store and at the time 9-year-old me thought they were the greatest things! Time proved that wrong, but that's for a different day.

The first thing I painted with these ever-so-great Dollar-store acrylics, was this dairy calf. I found an inspiration picture on safari and set to work sketching out the outline. When the sketch was done, I was trying to decide what to do with thing and where to start. Now if I remember right, I kinda just started somewhere random and went with the flow, because as a 9-year-old I didn't have the capacity to sit and focus. So ultimately I got to where the cow was done, but what was I going to do with the background!? Well, it actually only took me about 5 minutes to decide I was going to make this thing look like it was in a pasture, so I did. When I was done I was so proud of my work, because didn't I make that sky look so real!? And didn't that grass just look so precise!?

Looking at it now though, I only see part of what my younger self saw, but that's because I've grown, and learned more about making things look realistic, and precise. I can't wait to help you all grow too!

Now, when I first started writing this post, I was not intentionally making it about pride, but reading it over, I realize it would be a great topic to discuss. Let's quickly look at what the bible says about pride then. You've probably often heard the phrase, 'Pride comes before the fall', and it actually comes from Proverbs 16:18 which says, "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall". Here we can see that pride is not a good thing at all. In fact, the bible says that it's actually a very serious sin that God hates. So what can we do instead? Instead we can take up humility. Humility is valued and leads to wisdom and honor. Pride is an attitude that seeks self-glory, which then leads to self-worship and furthermore, to an ignorance of God. "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble." James 4:6

Thank you so much for reading my first post of Sun Over the Horizon, The Frontier Gallery! Catch ya in a couple weeks for my first post of Miles in the Saddle!
