Welcome to Beyond the Frame!
Here, I'll be sharing some of my favorite photos, going over the tips and tricks I used to capture them, and telling you the story behind each shot.
This month, I'm sharing a picture of a calf in a field of grass. I actually entered this photo into a contest with the theme, "Quiet Limousin Cattle on the Day-to-Day."
For this photo, I waited for what photographers call the golden hour, which is between 7:30 and 8:30 PM. When you wait until that perfect time, the setting sun gives everything a beautiful, warm, golden glow.
Taking pictures of cattle can be tricky since they move a lot, just like any other animal. Patience is key. I spent thirty minutes in the field before getting this one shot, and I took over 150 photos. Sometimes, the right image will come when you least expect it.
So, get your camera out, whether it's a phone or a Polaroid, doesn't matter, and go take a photo that tells a story beyond the frame.
